Rediscovering Maplestory in Another Form: Idle Gaming
This game released on 10/23/2025 and it took me almost 2 months to start playing it. Maplestory screams nostalgia but for those who know about this game, it is an extremely time consuming, pay to win game [if you are playing on non-reboot].
But I’m not here to talk about the pc game that we all know. I’m here to talk about Maplestory IDLE.
Why I Chose Maplestory Idle
Well, this is a horrible reason but I feel like this is the most common reason why people start anything—to kill time. I didn’t want to play a game which required your whole day spent, but instead something that you could just look at quickly when waiting for the lines or parked waiting for work to start.
I’ve been playing this game for around a month but I can say with confidence that it’s a really addicting game. It made me remember the old days when I was farming for levels but the catch is that this game does the farming for you (as long as you don’t turn that auto option off, but like why would you do that).
Pay to Win? Not My Style
I think most people would complain that it is another pay to win game which requires you to spend a ton to top the ranks, however, my intention isn’t to do that. I don’t mind taking the time to slowly increase my level and cp (power). So far, the only thing that I have spent real money on were the cosmetics to change the uglyass starter hair and face 😂. If you know, you know.

This is my character after changing to their latest ‘royal style’. I didn’t buy this outfit yet but I’m seriously considering it because I’m wearing the holiday santa outfit right now. I mean the holiday outfit is not bad for a free cosmetic set, but I get tired after seeing the same clothes. Also the holiday season just passed so I need something cute more personal.
How Long Do I Intend to Play This Game?
Honestly, I’m not too sure. So far, I think it is a great game but it is pretty repetitive. For me, I usually drop a game once it becomes a chore. When you’re not happy playing the game anymore, but you already spent too much time, energy, and money that you feel obligated to complete all the dailies even though you really don’t want to.
